Plenty of good tools build websites. Here's where Sum fits, without knocking anyone: who each one is made for, and when Sum isn't the right choice.
Wix and Squarespace suit people who like to tinker with their own layout. With Sum, you describe your business and get a solid site made of proven blocks; then you change a text in one click or in a chat.
WordPress can do anything, but it has to be kept up to date: the core, the theme, the plugins, the hosting. A Sum site is static: nothing to update, almost nothing to hack.
Generating a whole site in one go is impressive; picking it up six months later, much less so. With Sum, the AI assembles known, checked blocks, and the result stays readable by a human.
Your content is yours, in readable files. You can leave with it, or hand it to the freelancer of your choice.
To sell products online, Shopify and platforms like it are made for that. We'd rather tell you.
Connected to your management software, Sum takes your hours, services and contact details where you already keep them. Change an hour in your software: the site follows.
Solid sites made of proven blocks, that an AI assembles in minutes and a real developer can pick up. And that are yours for good.
Every tool is good for someone. Here's who.
| Tool | Made for | Less suited to |
|---|---|---|
| Wix, Squarespace | Tinkering with your own layout, with lots of templates. | Anyone who wants a site done without spending their evenings on it. |
| WordPress | Doing anything, with a huge choice of plugins. | Anyone who doesn't want to manage updates, security and hosting. |
| Webflow | Designers who want fine visual control. | A business owner who just wants it to work. |
| AI site generators | A very fast first draft. | A site you'll grow and hand over over time. |
| A web agency | Full custom work, with guidance. | A small budget, or keeping control of your site. |
| Sum | A business that wants a solid site fast, with or without AI, connected to its software, that a human can pick up. | A full online store, or moving every element yourself with the mouse (pixel-perfect design is done by a developer, with custom blocks). |
